The Air Maintenance Command of the Colombian Aerospace Force sent military personnel during the weekend's electoral activity, with the purpose of working for the security and tranquility of citizens who exercised their right to vote. To this end, an extensive military and security operations were conducted, which included ground and air deployment in the municipality of Madrid and in the Sabana de Occidente region.
Approximately 305 soldiers of the Colombian Aerospace Force were at 21 polling stations; in addition, ground patrols were carried out in different sectors of the municipality of Madrid, with the aim of accompanying citizens and ensuring the normal development of democratic activity.
Similarly, in the air component there was a surveillance operation using remotely piloted aircraft (drones) that carry out intelligence and monitoring missions over the municipalities of the Western Sabana, to verify the safe development of this democratic event. Additionally, five control and surveillance overflights were carried out in the area during the activity.
Colonel Sourbier Ocampo Muñoz, Commander of the Air Maintenance Command, sent a message to the inhabitants of the municipality of Madrid and the other municipalities of the Western Sabana, reiterating the commitment of the Military Forces to work for security and the normal development of electoral activity, allowing citizens to exercise their right to vote in a calm and safe way.
