Once the emergency, due to the intense rains in recent days, was known in the department of Córdoba, the Colombian Aerospace Force, as an essential component of the National Disaster Risk Management System, made all its resources available to support the more than 13 thousand families hit by the floods.
This is how, yesterday, it sent a C-295 aircraft to transfer personnel of the Ministry of National Defense, Colombian Civil Defense, and Colombian National Army's Disaster Prevention and Assistance Brigade from Bogotá to Montería, to establish the Unified Command post in the territory. On the same aircraft, relief agencies and emergency teams were transported.
Similarly, today the Military Air Transport Command, CATAM, sent a C-40 aircraft to transport 10 tons of Emergency Humanitarian Aid from Bogotá to Montería, with non-perishable food, drinking water, personal hygiene kits, kitchen utensils, agricultural supplies, blankets, among others. The humanitarian aid was provided by the National Government through the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, UNGRD, and will be distributed to those hited with the support of the Civil Defense, local and departmental governments.
