In compliance with the guidelines of the National Government to provide support in the emergency caused by the earthquake that hit Venezuela, the Colombian Aerospace Force, through the Military Transport Air Command, CATAM, in coordination with the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, UNGRD and the National Personnel Recovery Center, CENRP, carried out a new humanitarian mission, transporting vulnerable first aid and repatriating 47 compatriots.
The aircraft took off in the morning from Bogota to the Maiquetía International Airport, in the state of La Guaira, carrying approximately 3,200 items of Emergency Humanitarian Assistance, eight tons of food supplement and 680 kilograms of medicines and medical supplies. Among the aid distributed were tents, mats, blankets, sheets and toilet kits, intended to strengthen the care of the families affected by this emergency.
Once the distribution of the humanitarian assistance was completed, the crew started the return flight with 47 Colombian citizens who remained in Venezuelan territory during the contingency. Through this operation, the number of compatriots repatriated since the beginning of the emergency has risen to 92, through the air humanitarian connection coordinated by the National Government.
