In order to counter illicit activities against natural resources, the Colombian Air Force participated in a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operation with the National Army and the Mayor's Office of Bogotá.
In the operation against illegal mining carried out in the locality Usme, in the Canta Rana sector, it was possible to immobilize yellow line machinery valued at approximately 1,000 million pesos and drag material used to damage the environment.
Through this operation it was possible to strike the financial component of the Organized Criminal Groups of the area and reduce the environmental impact over about 10,000 square meters, which will take conducted by five or ten years to recover.
This year, the Colombian Air Force has participated in three operations against illegal mining in the rural area of the department of Cundinamarca, demonstrating its commitment to protect resources in order to prevent the spread of this problem.
