A minor in a delicate state of health, who required urgent assistance in a higher level center, was transported in a timely and immediate manner by the crews of the Colombian Air Force from the municipality of Santa Rosal铆a to the city of Villavicencio.

The 13-year-old Vichadense patient was in the San Juan de Dios hospital under complex clinical conditions, which required specialized assistance because of the severity of his symptomatology which had to be treated by general surgery.

Due to the urgency of the situation and in order to make sure that the patient arrives alive to receive the necessary assistance, a military aeromedical transfer operation was deployed in a Black Hawk Helicopter of the Air Combat Command No.2, which arrived at the scene after receiving the alert issued by the National Personnel Recovery Center.

Once the child and the mother were inside the helicopter, the rescuers and the military professionals of the health area who accompanied the mission, connected a series of devices to the patient such as the orogastric tube and a bladder tube; the rigorous and continuous monitoring of the minor, were necessary because his blood loss, the replenishment of fluids to the body had to be done first.

During the flight, the child was assisted with procedure by the crew, the rigorous monitoring of vital signs reduced the risk of tachycardia of the minor and in the same way a state of hypothermia since with altitude heat is lost.

Upon arrival at the Luis Francisco G贸mez Ni帽o Air Base, the patient was given stable to the ambulance staff who would later transfer him to the specialists of the Departmental Hospital to conduct the surgical procedure required by this citizen.
