Colombian and Brazilian authorities hit the finances of drug traffickers by more than 76 million dollars

• During the year, more than 15 tons of creepy-type marijuana have been found in combined operations conducted by Colombia and Brazil.

• The Colombian jungle is one of the main routes of mobility for drug traffickers, due to its large extension of the territory that connects the border areas with the neighboring country by waterway and land.

The Colombian and Brazilian military Forces have conducted an important operational synergy in the border area, in order to hit the finances of the drug trafficking structures of the two countries. So far this year, the permanent deployment of military Resources has led to the finding of more than 15,860 kilograms of creepy-type marijuana, at the time they were transported over the Caquetá and Amazon rivers in Colombia to the city of Manaus - Brazil.

During the month of December, in an operation conducted by the Brazilian Federal Police and the Colombian Military Forces, 1,200 kilograms of creepy marijuana were found by troops, which were transported on the Japurá River, in a rudimentary boat which was abandoned. It is presumed that the boat was destined for the city of Manaus - Brazil, an area where it was expected by members of the Vermelho Command, one of the most dangerous drug trafficking structures in the neighboring country.

At the same time, 217 kilograms of marijuana, 57 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 19 kilograms of coca paste were found by troops by the Brazilian Federal Police on the Negro River on board a boat manned by four Brazilians and one Colombian, which, according to intelligence information, were expected in the city of Manaus, from where they would sent to Europe and Asia.

The international cooperation conducted by the military authorities of Colombia and Brazil led to hit, during 2022, the finances of Colombian drug trafficking structures by more than 76 million dollars. Apparently, these criminal structures have constant direct links with the FARC dissidents, who supervise and facilitate the transportation of illicit drugs in this region of the country. The arrested and the narcotics were put into custody of the authorities.

It should be noted that the Amazon rainforest, where the triple border is shared by Brazil, Colombia and Peru, is a strategic territory for criminal groups, due to its large extension and river arteries that are used as mobility routes for the transport of illicit drugs by land and river.

The Colombian Navy, through the Southern Naval Force, reaffirms its commitment to the frontal fight against drug trafficking, carrying out combined and joint operations that deny the river space of the Amazon region to international drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the region.
