In the course of a joint operation conducted by the National Army and the Colombian Navy in their fight against residual organized armed groups (GAO-r in Spanish) in the east of the country, it was possible to find an illegal cache containing 50 kilograms of explosives, in the village Altamira, in the municipality of Calamar, Guaviare.
Inside the illegal cache troops found 40 anti-personnel mines, which were destroyed under controlled conditions at the site of the find by an explosives and demining team.
According to information provided by intelligence agencies, this material was intended to be used to attack civilians, members of the Military Forces working in the sector and critical State infrastructure in this area of the country.
