Thanks to an inter-institutional operation, Los Mesa gang stopped receiving more than 240 million pesos as a result of this important finding.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, with the objective of weakening illicit activities and denying sources of financing to illegal groups, soldiers of Cavalry Group No. 4 Juan del Corral, of the Fourth Brigade, in coordination with the National Police, Sonsón station, found abundant marijuana ready for distribution.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts with the National Police, information was obtained about the organized gang Los Mesa who would be using people in vehicles loaded with food to transport marijuana, thus trying to evade and confuse the authorities.
A military and police operation was initiated to identify the vehicles that would be in the illegal activities. Once the information was obtained, they arrived at the market square of the municipality of Sonsón, Antioquia, where these individuals were hiding among the people taking advantage of the large flow of cargo vehicles that arrives at the place, but they did not know they were observed by the members of the Military Forces.
When checking on one of the people who got out of a vehicle with a sack, soldiers and police officers found 39 sealed and pressed packages containing the marijuana. Similarly, they arrested in flagrante delicto the guy who was transporting the drug.
The material and the arrested person were put into custody of the National Police to continue with the urgent acts and their respective prosecution.
