Colombian Army and U.S. Embassy support education of children in the South of Bolivar

cogfm_entrega_kits_escolaaares.jpg

The National Army's Comprehensive Action and Development Support Command, in international cooperation with the United States Embassy in Colombia, sent from Bogotá, about 300 school kits consisting of backpacks, notebooks, rules, pencils and color pencils, to be distributed to vulnerable families in the municipality of Arenal, south of Bolivar; these people have in the same way been hit by the current health emergency.

There, the soldiers of the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No. 1 and The Jungle battalion No. 48 of the First Division of the National Army, in an inter-agency work with the civil authorities of Arenal, identified the houses where these kits would be distributed.

These families are residents of the Ccampito neighborhood, one of the most vulnerable sectors of the Department. These items were distributed there, benefiting 300 students from this municipality.

It is important to emphasize that the main objective of such activities is to promote quality in education and school attendance in this region, taking into account all the difficulties that have been presented by the pandemic of COVID-19.
