Within the framework of sustained military operations aimed at weakening the criminal structures that hit security in the national territory, troops of the Magdalena Medio Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), in tasks coordinated with the National Police, reported arrests in flagrante delicto an individual accused of belonging to an organized armed group that commits crimes in the south of the department of Cesar.
The operation was carried out through a search procedure in the municipality of San Martín, department of Cesar, where alias Mayimbú or Manuel, alleged ringleader of the criminal component of the organized armed group, so called Self-defense Forces Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada, was arrested.
According to intelligence information, the arrested individual would have more than one year of criminal experience within the substructure of the Front Resistencia Campesina of this organized armed group. He would in the same way be in charge of stimulating illicit activities in the region, related to crimes such as extortion, selective homicides and forced displacements in several municipalities in the south of the department of Cesar.
During the procedure, the following items were seized: a 7.65mm caliber pistol-type firearm, 70 cartridges of the same caliber and a cell phone.
The arrested was put into custody of the authority for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possessing firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
