During the operation, more than 500 million pesos of the illegal finances of this GAO were found by troops in the Catatumbo region.
Soldiers of the Combat Engineer Battalion Nº 30, in the framework of operations, arrested two alleged members of the terrorist support networks of the residual organized armed group, Structure 33, after fighting in the village Campo Yuca, municipality of Tibú, Department of Norte de Santander.
At the time of the arrest, more than 500 million pesos and a motor-cargo vehicle were found by troops; once the corresponding review was carried out and the security protocols were complied with, the arrested and the material were put into custody of the authorities.
As part of this military operation, one of those arrested who was injured was assisted by combat nurses, thus emphasizing the conviction of maintaining respect for life and strict compliance with international humanitarian law and human rights.
These arrests represent an important blow that leads to the weakening of the GAO-r's logistical, armed and territorial control resources.
Colombian National Army is constant in its military operations in the Catatumbo region, with the mission of neutralizing the criminal operations of organized armed groups, in addition to ensuring the security of the inhabitants and the stabilization of the territory.
