Bogotá. For the third year in a row, the Ministry of National Defense, with the support of the United Kingdom and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), will carry out the conference on Integrity for superior leaders in Bogotá, in which topics related to the efficient management of the financial resources, the risks during the procurement processes, the audits and the relationships with the media, among others, will be discussed.
This meeting in which national and foreign officers who currently participate in the Course of High Military Studies (CAEM) of the War College, and their counterparts of the NATO School, will exchange their experiences and good practices on topics related to the acquisition of goods and services for the Defense Sector.
"For five years the Ministry of National Defense has worked with NATO on various projects and programs. One of them is the Integrity program, which aims to learn of the best practices used by this Organization around the world in matters of contracting, transparency and purchases of goods and services worldwide," said the Deputy Minister for the Social and Business Group of the Defense (GSED), General (in retirement) Javier Pérez.
In this meeting that will take place from April 9 to 12, the methodology of the program Building Integrity (BI) of NATO will be implemented, through which the military and civilian personnel of the Ministry of Defense are trained through academic spaces along with the Military Forces and the National Police, for the consolidation of the strategic objectives related to integrity and institutional transparency, all this, through the knowledge and implementation of the international standards in matters of ethics, integrity and transparency.
"We administer and manage public resources, sacred resources, which come from the taxes of our Colombians, and the least we can do is to manage them with transparency and effectiveness; making the investments that these Forces and the National Police really need, in order to give confidence to all citizens that their taxes in the Defense Sector will be reflected in security for our citizens, "said the Vice Minister.
