Regarding the information broadcasted last August 24, 2024, about the strengthening of operations in favor of the defense and security of Colombians, it is important to note that the commitment of the Colombian National Army, the National Navy and the Colombian Air Force to the protection of national sovereignty, the security of the national territory and the constitutional order, is reaffirmed.
After a detailed analysis of the strategic context and a review of the military strategy through meetings of multidisciplinary teams including intelligence, operations, planning and an analysis of the threats and challenges facing the Military Forces in fulfillment of the constitutional mission, the strategic approach of the military operations was strengthened.
The five Joint Commands will continue to work in the planning and evaluation of the strategic environment and context in each of their geographical areas. They will in the same way coordinate and synchronize border resources so that, by orders of the General Command of the Military Forces, the assignment of the military operation missions takes place according to the evolution of the strategic context.
The Omega, Hercules and Vulcano Task Forces continue to operate in the current areas and they will be under the command of the Colombian National Army. The Joint components will continue to operate in mutual support of these task forces, depending hierarchically on each branch. These military units remain fundamental in the structure of the Military Forces concentrating their resources and efforts in the different regions.
This reorganization seeks to provide a more effective and efficient response through a restructuring of the military operations to face current threats and challenges at the national level.
The challenges of today and tomorrow demand a permanent renewal of the organization and strengthening of the resources of each branch (National Army, National Navy and Colombian Air Force) in their respective land, sea and air domains, which, through the joint work will continue to play a predominant role in the military strategy.
The General Command of the Military Forces reiterates that the Joint Commands and Task Forces will continue to be a vital part of the institution and will maintain the operation with a view to countering the criminal interference of Organized Armed Groups, in favor of the security, wellbeing, comprehensive development and defense of the nation.
