In order to strengthen the security of National Cyber Critical Constructions, the General Command of the Military Forces, through the Joint Cyber Command, carried out the Capture The Flag exercise, a specialized training activity aimed at personnel responsible for the protection of strategic systems of the country.
The activity managed to evaluate the resources of the participants by solving challenges in a controlled environment that recreated real cybersecurity situations. The tests were focused on digital forensic analysis, vulnerability exploitation, cryptography, web security, open source intelligence, reverse engineering and malware analysis.
Specialists in information technologies and cybersecurity from institutions of strategic sectors participated in the exercise, including the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM), Civil Aeronautics (Aerocivil), the National Spectrum Agency (ANE), the Defense CSIRT, the Financial CSIRT of Asobancaria and the Military Forces.
The activity promoted the exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of military operations resources for the identification, analysis and response to incidents that may endanger the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the systems that support essential State services. It in the same way contributed to consolidating the coordination among the institutions responsible for the protection of the national digital environment.
Through this type of initiatives, the General Command of the Military Forces continues to promote the preparation of human talent specialized in cybersecurity, strengthening the country's capacity to anticipate, detect and neutralize threats in cyberspace and protect the Nation's strategic resources.
