This construction will benefit about 400 elementary and high school students of the Laureano Martínez School, providing them with adequate spaces for their academic training.
This project, which has been moving forward since the previous year, began when the Mayor's Office of Pueblo Bello submitted a request to the Ancla Foundation, exposing the urgent vulnerabilities of the school, where students and teachers had to teach their classes in improvised classrooms outdoors.
Faced with this situation, the Ancla Foundation responded to the call and, with the support of Colombian National Army, launched the construction of these classrooms through the Comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion Nº1 and the Engineer Battalion N°70 General Manuel Murillo Gonzales.
The work began in December 2024, with the construction of the concrete that would serve as the basis for the construction of the classrooms. This valuable contribution was made by the Municipal Mayor of Pueblo Bello, who, together with the Ancla Foundation, assumed the commitment to transform the education of children and young people in the area.
The inauguration of the six new classrooms was a real celebration for the community. Members of the Ancla Foundation were at the event, who traveled from Sweden together with the benefactors who made the execution of this project possible. The joy and gratitude of the nearly 400 elementary and high school students, who will benefit through these new learning spaces, were a reflection of the importance of this work.
"We had six grades that were in improvised classrooms, here we call them enramados, they are nothing more than sticks standing with zinc tiles, this was the situation where the students took classes and thanks to the support that the Ancla Foundation, the Municipal Mayor's Office and Colombian National Army are providing us today, we can count on this beautiful building," said Yenfaid Colpa Sánchez, director of the Institution.
In addition to this project, Colombian National Army and the Ancla Foundation have worked together on other important projects throughout the national territory, such as the construction of classrooms in the former Territorial Space of Instruction and Reintegration of Tierra Grata, in Manaure, department of Cesar; in the Arhuaca indigenous people of Ikarwa, in Valledupar; and in the Department of La Guajira, always in order to support the most vulnerable communities.
