Colombian National Army arrested five people and recovered more than 5,400 gallons of fuel in Barrancabermeja, Santander department

Ejército Nacional capturó a cinco personas y recuperó más de 5.400 galones de combustible en Barrancabermeja, Santander

Vehicles and communication equipment allegedly used for illicit activities related to the theft and illicit marketing of fuels were in the same way seized in the operation.

Within the framework of military operations aimed at combating crimes that affect the country's strategic resources and illicit activities in the region, troops of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 6, through the use of differential and technological resources, as well as the deployment of motorized units and drones, caused a millionaire loss to illicit activities in the village of La Fortuna, in Barrancabermeja, Santander department.

During the operation, four people were arrested for the alleged crime of receiving unlawful elements, as well as recovering approximately 3,400 gallons of diesel fuel, which had been obtained through illicit activities related to fuel theft.

These results represent a loss of more than 270 million pesos to the networks specialized in the illicit trafficking and commercialization of fuels, thus weakening their logistical and financial resources, while contributing to the protection of strategic resources, energy resources of the country and preservation of the environment.
