The Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN stops receiving about 27 million pesos after the finding of this fuel.
In the framework of Operation Catatumbo, troops of the Medium Cavalry Group No. 5 General Hermógenes Maza reported the arrest in flagrante delicto of a person and the finding of illegal fuel, striking the illicit activities of structures in the service of the GAO ELN.
The military action coordinated with the SIJIN Judicial Police of Norte de Santander was carried out in the village of Agua Blanca, in the municipality of Cúcuta, thanks to the installation of a checkpoint and route security, which achieved the finding of vehicles that illegally transported fuel.
During the maneuver, the troops found 635 gallons of gasoline, as well as 2 automobile-type vehicles; in the same way they report the arrest of a person, who must face the authorities for the crime of promoting the smuggling of fuels or their derivatives.
These illicit activities would be linked to criminal structures at the service of the Reinaldo Ardila Gómez Urban Front, of the GAO ELN, who apparently used the fuel in the production of cocaine hydrochloride.
The elements would cost that amounts to approximately 27 million pesos, representing a direct blow to the illegal finances that sustain the criminal acts of this illegal armed organization in the region.
