The individuals were in the same way in charge of extorting money of the inhabitants of the municipalities of Rovira, Roncesvalles, Cajamarca and Ibagué, in the department of Tolima.
At the Tuamo village, in the municipality of Rovira, the soldiers of the Tolima Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), of the Sixth Brigade, in coordination with the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the department of Tolima and the support of the Nº 4 Air Combat Command, reported the arrest of two members of the security team of the ringleader of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Frente Joaquín González, alias Marcos, moments when they were securing one of the points where the arrival of this individual was expected.
Thanks to military intelligence, the two men, who not only worked to increase security at the points where the ringleader moved, but in the same way made money from extortions made against ranchers, coffee growers, merchants and transporters of the municipalities of Rovira, Roncesvalles, Cajamarca and Ibagué; during the procedure long, short weapons, ammunition of different calibers and military accessories material for exclusive use of the Military Forces were found by troops.
The men were put into custody of the authority for the crimes of association to commit crimes and carrying and trafficking firearms.
This result of the military operation contributes to preventing the expansion of criminal territorial control and strategic plans of the GAO-r Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, a faction of alias Calarcá, who seek to keep the mobility routes by Quindío, Valle del Cauca and Tolima to maintain their logistical supply lines, drug trafficking and coordinate terrorist support networks throughout this part of the central-western part of the country.
