In an inter-institutional intelligence operation, troops of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the Attorney General's Office, reported the arrest of an alleged ringleader of the support networks of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Jaime Martinez Structure, responsible for multiple terrorist operations and serious crimes in the southwest of the country.
Within the framework of the Joint Strategic Campaign Plan Ayacucho Plus, and due to a coordinated and inter-institutional work conducted by the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Valle del Cauca of the Third Brigade with Military Intelligence units and the CTI, alias Gael, accused ringleader of the support networks of this residual structure, was arrested in a rural area of Cundinamarca.
The individual is being investigated for the crimes of terrorism, aggravated homicide and association to commit crimes, in addition to being allegedly linked to terrorist operations in Cali and Jamundí, as well as with the kidnapping of the minor Lyan Hortúa, who was deprived of liberty for several days in the village of Villacolombia, rural area of Jamundí.
According to intelligence work, alias Gael coordinated armed activities, recruitment and indoctrination of minors, as well as the planning of attacks against the Military Forces and the inhabitants in the Valle del Cauca.
Alias Gael has participated in attacks on the Dagua police stations and the Anchicayá military base and in the same way in the murder of an alleged member of the Los Shottas gang. His criminal record includes the adequacy of a truck loaded with explosive devices that was directed against the military base of Palmira and in the attack against the CAI of the El Rodeo neighborhood, in the same way in Jamundí, among other crimes.
The arrested was put into custody of the authorities for his prosecution.
