At the village Mesa de Pole in the municipality of Ataco, soldiers of the Rapid Deployment Battalion N.13 arrived, in coordination with the National Police and Cortolima, arrest in flagrante two men who were carrying out illegal gold mining.
When the review was carried out, these individuals did not have the permits given by the environmental authority for the exploitation of mining deposits, therefore the arrests were made as well as the confiscation of a rudimentary dredger, sorting screen drawer, metal structure, motor pump, suction snail, injector and bell; this construction is valued at $ 18 million pesos, however and produced 1,500 grams of gold per month, with a commercial price of $ 480 million pesos.
The individuals were put into custody of the authority for their respective prosecution.
This result of the military operation contributes to the protection of the environment, since it is evident that deforestation, damage to soil and water occurs; the recovery of the nature in the zone would take up to more than 30 years, in addition, it is investigated by the Military Forces, if these individuals traded the gold with organized criminal groups.
