These individuals would have the task of carrying out the territorial expansion and the summons to inhabitants of the municipalities of Cajamarca, Rovira and Roncesvalles, for the collection of money from extortion.
Thanks to military intelligence work, the 18th Infantry Battalion Coronel Jaime Rooke, of the Sixth Brigade, in coordination with the Elite Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the National Police and support of the Colombian Aerospace Force, reached the village La Esmeralda, in the municipality of Rovira, in the department of Tolima, and after a firefight troops arrested two alleged members of the residual organized armed group Joaquín González (group product of the splitting of the Gaitan Gutiérrez Substructure); in the same way troops recovered a minor of age .
Those arrested were in charge of constraining and financing themselves by extorting, as well as controlling illicit activities, by summoning merchants, businessmen, ranchers and coffee growers at different points in the rural area of the municipalities of Rovira and Roncesvalles, an operation with which they collected more than 1,000 million pesos per month, which were under the direction of alias Fabián, the ringleader of this structure, and for whom a reward of 50 million pesos is provided to anyone who gives information about his whereabouts.
These individuals had in their possession several patches with the logo of the guerrilla structure, long weapons and black uniforms.
The individuals were put into custody of the authority for the crimes of illegal carrying of firearms, association to commit crimes and illegal use of communications networks.
Meanwhile, the minor was handed over to the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute and the Office of the Ombudsman for Minors. We reject the use of minors to be part of the ranks of these outlaw groups.
