The power of the military operation of the Thirtieth Brigade, department of Norte de Santander has neutralized the threat of several explosive devices allegedly planted by the organized armed group, GAO, ELN in the region.
In the framework of operations troops of the Medium Cavalry Group No. 5 General Hermogenes Maza, has used all its military resources to counter the criminal operations of the organized armed group ELN, with the finding of cylinders in different sectors of the region, as well as the installation of flags alluding to the armed group and the blockade of the road that leads from Cúcuta to Ocaña.
The military operations led to the unblocking of the road on three occasions and the arrest of an individual who planned to constrain people through the installation of flags alluding to the ELN, preventing mobility in the Zulia sector; this individual was put into custody of the authorities.
Thanks to the differentiated resources of the anti-explosive technicians, the operations were destroyed in controlled conditions, eliminating a serious threat to the inhabitants who travel daily through the western road sector.
Colombian National Army categorically rejects the use of these violent and intimidating methods against the inhabitants, which constitute a violation of human rights and international humanitarian law; therefore, the troops of the Thirtieth Brigade reaffirm their commitment to Colombia by carrying out military operations that neutralize the criminal attacks of organized armed groups and reduce the factors of instability that hit Colombians.
