The operation leads to the finding and destruction of an illicit refinery used for the storage and production of fuels stolen of the Caño Limón-Coveñas pipeline.
Within the framework of military operations carried out by the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats (CONAT), troops of the 47th Ground Operations Battalion managed to find and disable a rudimentary illicit refinery used for the extraction and distillation of stolen petroleum of the Caño Limón-Coveñas pipeline, in the department of Norte de Santander.
The operation was carried out in the village J10 Quemadero, municipality of Tibú, where, thanks to military intelligence information, five rudimentary pols used by members of the Juan Fernando Porras Martínez front of the organized armed group (GAO) ELN were found by troops; petroleum is a precursor used for the production of cocaine hydrochloride.
During the military intervention, 80,844 gallons of diesel and 65,285 gallons of gasoline were seized, allegedly used to strengthen the illegal activities of this illegal armed structure.
The prosecution of this operation was carried out by units of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police.
Through this result of the military operation, a loss of close to 2,800 million pesos is generated to the criminal finances of the GAO ELN, weakening its logistical and financing resources in the Catatumbo region.
