In a powerful military operation against organized armed structures, Colombian National Army directly hits the group known as Segunda Marquetalia, Iván Merchán Front, responsible for criminal operations in the south of the department of Meta. The incident was reported during an combat engaged by Army troops, which led to the arrest in flagrante delicto of one of its alleged members.
This operation was possible thanks to the inter-institutional coordination conducted by the Meta Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), the Elite Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the National Police and the support of the Ariari Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), the Mobility and Maneuver Battalion Nº 4, the Command Battalion Nº 3 and the Colombian Aerospace Force, units that participated in coordination to obtain this result.
During the operation, an individual was arrested, who was wounded in one of his limbs and received first aid by the soldiers of Colombian National Army, in compliance with International Humanitarian Law.
As a result of this operation, four rifles, a telescopic sight, 24 rifle magazines, 969 5.56 mm caliber cartridges, four tactical vests and five cell phones were found by troops.
According to military intelligence information, this structure would be linked to multiple crimes such as extortion, kidnapping, threats and forced displacements in the municipalities of Granada, Puerto Lleras, Puerto Rico and Lejanías, where it was seriously harming peasants and local economic sectors.
This result is part of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan and represents a strategic step in the weakening of the logistical resources and military operations of the organized armed groups that seek to disrupt order and security in the south of the country.
