With the arrest of 12 individuals, alleged members of the organized gang Los Mexicanos, who would be responsible for crimes such as illegal carrying of firearms, homicide, theft and extortion, Colombian National Army contributes to the stabilization of security in the city of Quibdó, Chocó department.
Within the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations, troops of the Fifteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in collaboration with the Colombian Navy, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, arrested in flagrante delicto 12 alleged members of the Los Mexicanos gang, who would be responsible for various criminal operations reported in the city.
The arrests were made during search procedures in 8 houses of the Cabí sector, in the municipality of Quibdó, Chocó department, where 10 men and 2 women were arrested. In their possession, they had 7 firearms, magazines, ammunition of different calibers, material of military accessories and communications.
Among those arrested are alias Fercho and alias Alexander, individuals who apparently had escaped of the Medium-security Penitentiary and Prison of Quibdó La Victoria, last April 15, and were wanted for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
In the same way, it was possible to recover a minor, who was handed over to the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute for the restitution of his rights.
Those arrested have previous records for illegal carrying of firearms, homicide, theft, extortion, threat and forced displacement, and, along with the material found, were put into custody of to the authority for their respective prosecution process.
