Troops of the Twenty-Seventh Brigade destroyed a sulfuric acid production laboratory, weakening the finances of the outlaw armed groups.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan and within the framework of military operations aimed at weakening illicit activities in the south of the country, troops of the Infantry Battalion No. 58, or of the Twenty-Seventh Brigade, in coordination with the Military Intelligence Battalion No. 6, the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police and the Investigative Work Team for the Control of Chemical Companies (ETICE), reported the finding and destruction of a laboratory for production sulfuric acid, an essential substance for the production of cocaine hydrochloride.
The operation was carried out in the Jordán de Guisia village, municipality of Valle del Guamuez, department of Putumayo, where, thanks to intelligence work and coordinated and inter-institutional actions, this illegal construction, belonging to the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Structure Border Commands National Coordinator Bolivarian Army, was identified.
During the intervention, 12,773 gallons of sulfuric acid, 86 35-kilo gas cylinders, 110 gallons of sodium hypochlorite, 30 bags of mercury of 50 kilograms each, 49 rudimentary stoves, 20 isotanques with a capacity of 264 gallons each, 119 barrels of different resources and 112 15-liter erlenmeyer-type containers were found by troops and destroyed, in addition to an illegal construction valued at approximately 15 million pesos.
Through this operation, a loss to illicit activities estimated at more than 630 million pesos was possible, significantly weakening the logistical and financial resources of this illegal structure that commits crimes in the region.
The items were put into custody of the Prosecutor's Office of Puerto Asís, department of Putumayo, an authority that will continue with the corresponding judicial process.
