The authorities of the department continue to accurately hit the finances of the illegal organizations that commit crimes in this region of the country, this time with the destruction of three laboratories for the production of coca paste base.
Within the framework of operations of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, soldiers of the Infantry Battalion n. 47 General Francisco de Paula Vélez, of the Seventeenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, jointly and in coordination with the Colombian Aerospace Force and the National Police, carried out the finding and controlled destruction of two laboratories for the production of coca paste base, allegedly belonging to the Fernando Oquendo Estrada substructure, of the organized armed group (GAO) Clan del Golfo.
The finding of these rudimentary structures, which could produce about 300 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride per month, was reported in the village of La Llana, in the municipality of Turbo, department of Antioquia. During the procedure, the authorities found and destroyed 560 gallons of coca paste base in process, 170 gallons of DIESEL and 140 gallons of gasoline, among other liquid substances.
The members of the Military Forces in the same way found 175 kilos of cement, 130 kilos of lime, 120 kilos of urea, as well as two rudimentary presses and 21 plastic barrels with a capacity to store 5 gallons each, among other elements used for the elaboration and production of the drug.
This result generates a loss to the finances of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo by approximately $1,250.000 COP, and strengthens the institutional work of the troops in the fight against drug trafficking.
