Colombian National Army destroyed 18 anti-personnel mines of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc in the department of Meta

Ejército Nacional destruyó 18 minas

An improvised explosive device adapted in a 40-kilo gas cylinder was in the same way found in the mined area.

In compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops of the Omega Task Force of Colombian National Army neutralized a mined area, on the road that connects the village of La Esmeralda, municipality of La Macarena, department of Meta, with the municipality of San Vicente del Caguán, department of Caquetá.

Through intelligence work, it was possible to find an improvised explosive device adapted in a 40-kilo cylinder, and 4 anti-personnel mines planted in an area of 200 square meters.

The residual organized armed group Structura Ever Castro, of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, would be responsible for the installation of these devices.

In the same way, 14 anti-personnel mines ready to be planted and 6 explosive devices with a pressure activation method were found by troops at the site, which were being manufactured.

Following the established protocols, an explosives, detonation and explosive ordnance team put of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 12 destroyed these devices in controlled conditions.

By means of this operation, a high-impact attack against the life and good physical condition of the inhabitants and the Military Forces was prevented.
