The installation of deadly weapons near civilians is increasingly recurrent. On this occasion they were 5 meters from a main road.

In the course of military operations, troops of the National Army found an area prepared with explosives, which apparently the Ernesto Che Guevara group, of the organized armed group, GAO, ELN, had set up to attack directly against civilians and military units, in the municipality of Saravena, Arauca.

The Mechanized Battalion No.18 and Urban Special Forces Battalion No.8 carried out the military operation, in the village Cuatro Esquinas, carrying out tactical tasks of search and reconnaissance of rural area, where they found 3 explosive devices buried 5 meters of the main road.

Each explosive device contained approximately 20 kilograms of Pentolite and a 200-meter wiring, ready to be detonated against personnel who daily transit through this area.
