Colombian National Army dismantles a camp area of the Clan del Golfo in the north of the department of Antioquia

Ejército Nacional desmantela un campamento del GAO Clan del Golfo en el norte del departamento de Antioquia

This result was given in compliance with the strategic approaches of protecting the inhabitants, governance and reducing resources of the threat, which are found in the Ayacucho Campaign Plan.

 

In the village of El Anime, in the municipality of Briceño, Antioquia, troops of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 4 Jorge Eduardo Sánchez Rodríguez, of the Fourth Brigade, engaged a combat against alleged members of the Julio César Vargas Torres Substructure, of the Organized Armed Group, Clan del Golfo.

 

This action occurred because the troops found the place that military intelligence identified. Once at the point and acting quickly, they surprised the alleged members of the aforementioned gang, an operation that resulted in a firefight. 

 

As a result, the soldiers made these people fled, leaving abandoned 9 units of campaign equipment, 2 notebooks with information of interest to military intelligence, a short weapon with their respective parts, several garments for exclusive use of an Army, in the same way, hammocks, ponchos, handkerchiefs, briefcases and other garments with images alluding to the Roberto Vargas Gutiérrez Bloc.

 

In the same way several meters of detonating cord, a gasoline stove, 120 kilos of dry groceries of different products and 5 gallons of gasoline. The material was put into custody of the authorities for the due process of prosecution.
