Colombian National Army dismantles cocaine laboratories set up in houses belonging to the GAO ELN in the Department of Norte de Santander

Ejército Nacional desmantela laboratorios de cocaína acondicionados en viviendas pertenecientes al GAO ELN en Norte de Santander

As part of the operations against drug trafficking, National Army troops, in coordination with the National Police and with the support of the Attorney General's Office, are carrying out a powerful operation in the metropolitan area of Cúcuta, Department of Norte de Santander, where the organized armed group (GAO) ELN maintained several specialized drug production structures.

In the first military operation, a rural house used as a laboratory was found, where members of this illegal structure had processed and had ready for commercialization about 500 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

Later, in the municipality of San Cayetano, the second laboratory was found with an additional 142 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, abundant solid and liquid supplies, as well as various stamps used to identify the narcotic and facilitate its distribution through drug trafficking networks.

In parallel, in the sector known as El Tablazo, in the municipality of El Zulia, three raids were carried out that led to deal a significant blow to the finances of this armed group. In these operations, about nine kilograms of coca base paste, a revolver, a traumatic weapon and approximately 500 grams of a substance allegedly used for the rudimentary manufacture of explosives were found by troops.
