In stability operations, Colombian National Army counteracts the operations of the residual organized armed groups in the department of Huila.
The Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Huila, of the Ninth Brigade, in the last few hours achieved the arrest of three individuals and the death in the framework of military operations of a member of the Central General Staff of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc of the Iván Díaz Front in the village of La Perdiz, municipality of Algeciras, Huila. Weapons were in the same way seized at the scene.
The military operation carried out to counter crimes such as extortion and kidnapping in this area of the department of Huila included intelligence work carried out by the Strategic Military Intelligence Battalion No. 3, the Aviation Mobility and Maneuver Battalion No. 5 and the prosecution of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office and Sijín of the National Police.
It should be mentioned that this residual organized armed group carries out extortion and terrorist operations against merchants, businessmen and peasants in the municipalities of Algeciras, Campoalegre and Gigante. They would in the same way be responsible for the activation of grenades and explosive devices in the city of Neiva as a mean of intimidation for the payment of extortion fees.
