This laboratory represented for the licit activities of the organized armed group ELN, José Daniel Pérez Front, revenues exceeding 2000 million pesos.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Strategic Plan, troops of the Twenty-Eighth Brigade of Colombian National Army, through the Rainforest Infantry Battalion No. 43 Efraín Rojas Acevedo and in coordination with the Colombian Aerospace Force, carried out the finding and dismantling of a cocaine hydrochloride production laboratory, in a rural area of the municipality of Cumaribo, department of Vichada.
The result of the military operation was possible thanks to intelligence gathering activities of the Military Intelligence Battalion No. 8, with the support of the Orinoquía Air Group, the Regional Naval Intelligence of the Orinoquía and the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 51, which led to finding this illegal construction with the capacity to produce more than 4 tons of cocaine hydrochloride per month, which generated illicit income exceeding 2,000 million pesos for the GAO ELN, José Daniel Pérez Front.
During the operation, carried out in El Placer, supplies and equipment used for the production of narcotics were found by troops, including caustic soda, fuels, chemicals, electricity generators, compressors and plastic tanks. The economic loss to this criminal structure exceeds 22,000 million pesos.
