It was possible the finding and subsequent destruction of several illegal hiding places containing more than half a ton of explosives and war material, which would be used to carry out terrorist operations against the inhabitants and constructions of the State.
In the framework of operations, in the rural area of the department of Arauca, where the municipalities of Puerto Rondón, Tame and Arauquita converge, troops of the Rapid Deployment Force N° 8 reported the finding, dismantling and destruction of several illegal hiding places belonging to the organized armed group (GAO-r) Substructure 28.
During the military operation, which is part of the strategic operations to weaken the resources of this illegal armed group, explosives and high-impact logistical material were found by troops.
More than half a ton of explosives that would be used for the manufacture of explosives that would be launched by drones were destroyed. In addition, the installation of approximately 400 anti-personnel mines, was in the same way prevented, as well as the manufacture of about 1000 more explosive devices.
Military equipment and a large quantity of medical supplies were in the same way seized, including fentanyl, a restricted-use and high-risk drug.
The operation represents a powerful blow to the military operations resources of the GAO-r Substructure 28, while significantly contributing to the safety and well-being of the inhabitants, leading to have the free transit through the area and the return to productive activities such as livestock farming and the cultivation of subsistence products.
All the explosive material was destroyed in controlled conditions by experts of Colombian National Army, following strict security measures to protect both military personnel and people nearby and the environment.
