Thanks to intelligence work, aerial surveillance and night operations, Colombian National Army neutralized a terrorist threat in this municipality by finding 10 means of launching of improvised explosive devices that would be used against troops in the region; the explosive devices had been planted by members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN.
The operation took place in the village of El Molino, municipality of Hacarí, department of Norte de Santander, where, thanks to information provided by the Citizen Participation Network and through reconnaissance and surveillance flights with unmanned aerial systems (UAS), the soldiers identified structures used for the launch of explosives. These would have the purpose of attacking the Intermediate Tactical Base in this strategic area of the department.
Thanks to these tactical tasks, a possible terrorist action that would have put at risk the integrity of the inhabitants and the military personnel in the sector was prevented.
Under controlled conditions and following the established security protocols, the military units carried out the destruction of the elements and continue to carry out operations to neutralize terrorist acts by the organized armed groups that commit crimes in this region of the country.
Colombian National Army in the same way rejects and denounces the use of these unconventional means, which violate International Humanitarian Law.
