The troops are intensifying operations in the municipalities of Bajo Cauca, Antioquia, with the purpose of combating the criminal activities of organized armed groups in this subregion.
Soldiers of the Rainforest Battalion N.掳 57, a unit attached to the Eleventh Brigade of Colombian National Army, with the support of the Colombian Navy, and in compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, found an illegal hiding place with explosives and communications material, allegedly belonging to the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, Substructure Manuel Alexander Ariza Rosario.
The military operation took place in the village of La Trinidad, in the municipality of Nech铆, department of Antioquia. 110 Indugel explosive rods, 11 directed hollow charges, 7 pentolite demolition charges, an anti-personnel mine, 2 fragmentation grenades, 100 meters of detonating cord and 2 communication radios with their respective magazines were found by troops at the site.
With the use of this material, the members of this criminal organization would seek to constrain the inhabitants and instill fear, in addition to disturbing the operations that the Military Forces conduct permanently in the region.
The explosives were put into custody of the soldiers of the EXDE Group for controlled destruction, and thus neutralize any terrorist operation that puts the lives of citizens residing in the sector at risk.
