This finding represents a blow to the logistical resources of the residual armed group Frente 57 Yaír Bermúdez, which seeks to disrupt law and order in the region.
As part of the Operation Odin, troops attached to the Third Brigade of Colombian National Army, found in the rural area of the village of Santa Rosa, municipality of Florida, department of Valle de Cauca, an illegal hideout containing abundant war material and military accessories garments, allegedly belonging to the GAO-r Structure Front 57 Yaír Bermúdez.
The finding was made thanks to a joint military intelligence work that included information provided by human sources and coordination with agencies such as Sipol and the Sijin of the National Police, which led to the identification of the storage area of the material in a wooded area of difficult access.
During the search, the troops found the following war materiel and military accessories:
One M-203 grenade launcher (40 mm) adaptable to rifle, 27 7.62 mm caliber cartridges for AK-47 rifle, two 7.62 mm caliber metal magazines and abundant material of military accessories with prints alluding to the Structure 57 Yair Bermúdez.
According to the preliminary report, these elements would be used by members of this illegal armed group for the planning and execution of terrorist operations against the Military Forces and the inhabitants of the southeast of the department.
Colombian National Army is constant in its operations in the area with the purpose of neutralizing the factors of instability that disturb the security of the inhabitants of the Valle del Cauca and the surrounding municipalities, reaffirming its commitment to the defense of sovereignty and the protection of the inhabitants.
