These elements would cost more than 25 million pesos.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, the Combat Engineer Battalion No. 8 promotes the security of Colombians in the department of Quindío, through operations aimed at weakening the threat and illegal activities in the region.
This is how the troops, through information provided by military intelligence, carried out a coordinated operation with the Carabineros Police of the Department of Quindío, which managed to find machinery that was being used for the illicit extraction of gold, an activity that at the same time was hitting the La Vieja River, in a rural area of the municipality of Montenegro.
After the operation, by the hand of the authorities, the soldiers attached to the Eighth Brigade disabled a rudimentary dredger, two engines, a compressor and elements for this illicit activity.
The soldiers of Colombian National Army will continue to use their military resources in order to attack criminal acts against the environment in the department of Quindío.
