By means of this result it was possible to make an approximate loss in 42,000,000 million pesos in disabled elements, and the extraction of 150 grams of gold per month is stopped, equivalent to almost 70 million pesos in trade.
Colombian National Army neutralized machinery used in illicit mining in Anserma, department of Caldas, hitting illicit activities in more than 100 million pesos
Within the framework of military operations aimed at the protection of the environment and natural resources, an important action operation was carried out against the illicit exploitation of mining deposits led by the Infantry Battalion n° 22 Ayacucho, through intelligence of the Civil Security Battalion n° 5, in inter-institutional coordination with the Carabineros and Environmental Protection Section of Caldas, the Intelligence Section, the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, Caldas section, the Air Intelligence Group n° 12, the Brigade against Illicit Mining and the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Caldas.
The intervention was carried out on the Quebrada El Oro, a strategic ecosystem due to its richness in flora and fauna, where the troops counteract illegal activities that generated serious environmental damage, thus contributing to the conservation of the natural resources of the region.
As a result of the operation, the troops seized and disabled two diver-type dredgers, three engines and three motor pumps, elements that would cost approximately $42,000,000 COP; in the same way, two mining production units that carry out illicit exploitation activities in the municipality of Anserma were intervened.
In the same way, within the framework of environmental protection, there has been environmental damage, as seen in deforestation, landscape modification, environmental damage in the air, water and soil component, which now requires an approximate recovery time of 30 years.
