The Twenty-Seventh Brigade of Colombian National Army continues to weaken drug trafficking resources in Putumayo. On this occasion, it found a cocaine hydrochloride production laboratory in the municipality of San Miguel.
As part of the military operations carried out within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops of the Putumayo Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), of the Twenty-Seventh Brigade, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police, found and disabled a laboratory used for production cocaine hydrochloride, belonging to the residual organized armed group Segunda Marquetalia Structura Comandos de Frontera, significantly hitting one of its main sources of illicit financing.
The military operation managed to intervene a clandestine construction destined to the production of the alkaloid. A cocaine hydrochloride laboratory, 660 kilograms of cocaine, 739 gallons of cocaine in process, 7,701 gallons of ketone, 864 gallons of DIESEL, 80 gallons of hydrochloric acid and 875 kilograms of unidentified solid substance, elements and precursors used for the production of the narcotic were disabled at the site.
According to military intelligence information, this illicit complex had the capacity to produce approximately four tons of cocaine hydrochloride per month, which were transported along the San Miguel River to the border with Ecuador and, subsequently, sent to Central American countries, strengthening the illicit activities of this criminal structure.
Through this result of the military operation, Colombian National Army hits the illicit income of the residual organized armed group by approximately 2000 million pesos, weakening its logistical and financial capacity. In addition, nearly 1,275 million doses of narcotic drugs were prevented from being sold in illegal markets, contributing to the protection of public health and the strengthening of security in the region.
