Thanks to the Fourth Division of the Army and the operations coordinated with the Colombian Aerospace Force, the National Navy, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to deal more than 7,630 blows to the factors of instability, operations for raising the security of the communities and the strategic resources of the region.
As a result of the dynamics of the military operation against organized armed groups such as the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, Amazonas Bloc, GAO Clan del Golfo and other organized crime groups are reported, including 558 arrests of members of these organizations, 28 surrenders to justice, two deaths in the framework of military operations.
In the same way, there were important blows to these criminal structures, such as the one carried out within the framework of Operation Nebula, led by the Seventh Brigade, which stands out as the most important operation of the year. In this operation, 32 neutralizations were possible, and the intention of the Martín Villa substructure to expand in the department of the Meta department was blocked.
Among other results, there are arrests of alias Duván, head of finance of Substructure 39, in charge of extorting merchants and subcontractors in Puerto Gaitán and Mapiripán, Meta, are in the same way highlighted; the arrest of alias Rosemberg, head of finance of the Gaitán Gutiérrez group, responsible for extortions and terrorist acts in the Ariari, Meta and the arrest of alias Óscar, head of hitmen of the Gonzalo Oquendo Urrego Substructure of the del Golfo, implicated in targeted killings in Meta department.
Similarly, in compliance with the institutional commitment to human rights, the troops recovered 27 illegally recruited minors, who were handed over to the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute for the restitution of their rights and the rescue of one kidnapped person and the recovery of another in the hands of criminals.
During 2024, the troops intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking, including the destruction of 38 laboratories for the production of coca paste base, the finding of more than 720 kilograms of coca paste base, the finding of more than two and a half tons of marijuana and the neutralization of 9 seedbeds and a cocaine hydrochloride laboratory.
Regarding illegal mining, 10 arrests were made and 2 mining sites were neutralized, in addition to destroying two illegal valves, three mining production units and the finding of two yellow machinery vehicles.
Within the framework of the Amazon Plan, significant progress was made possible with 32 arrests related to environmental crimes, with the finding of 819 cubic meters of wood, the recovery of 22 wild animals and the planting of 242,165 tree seedlings.
These operations were made possible thanks to the work of the military operation and the support of the communities, which provided key information to combat drug trafficking, extortion and the illicit exploitation of natural resources.
