Soldiers of the Mounted Light Cavalry Group N.° 16 Guías de Casanare tour flooded areas to provide support to the affected families and works for institutional activities in hard-to-reach sectors.
In response to the emergency caused by the heavy rainy season that affects the department of Casanare, soldiers of the Light Mounted Cavalry Group No. 16 Guías del Casanare, of the Sixteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, carry out patrols on horseback in the areas hit by the floods, with the purpose of providing support to the affected communities and strengthening institutional activity in the most remote sectors.
Thanks to the mobility resources of the mounted unit, the soldiers have been able to reach villages and properties where access by land is limited due to overflowing rivers and the accumulation of water, enabling them to verify the conditions of the affected families and support humanitarian assistance efforts.
During these tours, the troops are constantly in permanent contact with the inhabitants, identify the main vulnerabilities of the communities and coordinate efforts with local authorities and relief agencies to facilitate the distribution of aid and care for people who remain in hard-to-reach areas.
The use of emplacements has been fundamental to overcome the conditions of the terrain, enabling Colombian National Army to continue carrying out its mission of protecting the inhabitants and providing timely support during this emergency.
