In the framework of military operations aimed at security and the protection of children's rights, National Army troops reported the recovery of two minors who were illegally taken by the FARC-EP dissidents, structures Armando Ríos and Martín Villa, in the rural area of the municipality of El Retorno, department of Guaviare.
The operation was led by soldiers of the Urban Forces Battalion No. 4 and the Rainforest Infantry Battalion No. 24, units belonging to the Fourth Division of Colombian National Army, in the same way the operations led to the voluntary surrender to justice of a member of the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, which weakens the capacity of those individuals for forced recruitment, mobility and territorial control in this strategic area of the country.
The minors received immediate medical assistance, and the protocols for the restoration of rights were activated in a timely manner together with the authorities for their protection, in compliance with the guidelines of international humanitarian law and national regulations.
This result represents a powerful step forward in the fight against the illegal recruitment of minors and in the protection of children's fundamental rights, which are still violated by illegal armed structures in regions hit by the conflict.
The Fourth Division of Colombian National Army reaffirms its commitment to the protection and defense of children and adolescents, the eradication of forced recruitment by outlaw groups and security in the regions most hit by violence.
