The transit of the road that connects the departments of Cauca and Nariño is already in normal conditions thanks to the timely intervention of the troops.
On the Pan-American highway, near the village of El Remolino, in the department of Nariño, soldiers of the Light Infantry Battalion No. 9, unit of the Twenty-Third Brigade of Colombian National Army, carried out search and controlled destruction of three explosive devices that had been abandoned on this important road route.
With the support of the Explosive Detection and disposal Team, rigorous security protocols were implemented in order to protect those who transit through this strategic route in the southwest of the country.
According to preliminary information, these devices would have been installed by members of the residual organized armed group, Carlos Patiño Structure, with the intention of creating unrest, affecting the security forces, and putting the inhabitants at risk.
Thanks to the timely intervention of the troops, it was possible to mitigate the threat and enable traffic on this route, securing the right to free mobility by the departments of Nariño and Cauca.
