As part of a military operation and thanks to the immediate reaction of the troops of the Ariari Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Seventh Brigade, 13 people who had been kidnapped by alleged members of the organized armed group known as the Ivan Merchan front, were rescued.
The events were reported in the village of Hato Candilejas, a rural area of the municipality of Puerto Lleras, where several armed individuals broke into a farm in the sector, intimidated the workers and held them against their will, striking at the tranquility of this region of the department of Meta.
After identifying this act, the soldiers immediately activated the reaction protocols, establishing closures on possible escape routes and deploying search operations in nearby villages. The pressure exerted by the military units forced the criminals to flee the place and abandon one of the stolen vehicles.
Inside were found by troops 11 cell phones and a communication radio, elements that had been stolen of the victims during the criminal action. The recovered items were handed over to their rightful owners.
Subsequently, and after intense tracking efforts that extended throughout the night and early morning, the 13 people were found by troops safe and sound, powerfully thwarting the intentions of the gang.
Colombian National Army reaffirms its unrestricted commitment to the protection of the inhabitants and invites citizens to denounce any action that threatens their security through line 147 of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group). Timely information manages to act quickly and save lives.
