A 10-year-old minor was found at the scene with wounds caused by a firearm, as a result of the inter-communities conflict, in the same way according to the victims, a 9-month-old baby had died three days ago from dehydration.
As part of a military operation, troops of the Guajira Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and Infantry Battalion No. 6, in coordination with the Attorney General's Office, rescued 17 members of an indigenous people who were being deprived of their liberty, allegedly as a result of an inter- communities conflict, in a rural area of the municipality of Riohacha, Department of La Guajira.
According to the information provided by their relatives through the denunciations filed with the authorities, the victims had been confined since last June 14. During that time, the families spent more than 8 days without access to food or drinking water, a situation that caused them a severe state of dehydration.
In response to the denunciation and in compliance with the constitutional mission of protecting the life, liberty and human rights of the inhabitants, the troops of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the Attorney General's Office, conducted an operation that managed to enter in a timely manner the place where the victims were being held.
As a result of the operation, 17 people were rescued, including 7 minors, who were being deprived of their liberty in the house.
During the review, the soldiers saw that two of the minors had a delicate state of health, immediately, the combat nurses provided pre-hospital care to the minors and coordinated their transfer to a healthcare center to receive specialized medical assistance.
Two firearms with their respective ammunition were in the same way found in the place, elements that remained into custody of the authority to carry out the investigations and the corresponding judicial process.
