Colombian National Army seizes 2000 gallons of fuel stolen in Puerto Berrío, department of Antioquia

El Ejército Nacional incauta 2000 galones de hidrocarburos

With the confiscation of this fuel and the elements used for its illicit extraction, it was possible to produce an approximate economic loss of 140 million pesos to criminal revenues.

In the framework of military operations framed in the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops of the Fourteenth Brigade of the Seventh Division found an illegal valve installed in the section of the pipeline that crosses the rural area of the municipality of Puerto Berrío.

The finding occurred during an operation that the troops were conducting. There, the soldiers detected an NPR-type vehicle, apparently abandoned on a tertiary road. Faced with this situation, the members of the Military Forces proceeded to secure the perimeter and carry out the respective inspections of the car.

After the search of the vehicle and the area, six plastic containers and two isotank-type containers were found by troops, which stored the 2000 gallons of fuel. In the same way, hoses with pressure couplings and valves used for the illegal extraction of fuels were found by troops.

Once the elements were secured, the troops informed the institution in charge to start the technical repair work of the pipeline.

As for the vehicle, the elements and the fuels were put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution process.

By means of this result, it was possible to a loss to the illicit activities of the organized armed groups that commit crimes in the region. In addition, a possible environmental risk is neutralized, because these rudimentary connections usually cause spills and serious damage to the environment.
