The troops of the Tenth Brigade work tirelessly to combat crimes that cause irreparable damage to the department's ecosystems and natural resources.
Within the framework of military operations, in compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 2, of the Tenth Brigade, in coordination with Carabineros personnel of the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, reported the arrest of six individuals for the alleged crimes of illicit exploitation of mining deposits and damage to natural resources.
The operation was carried out in the village of Guacochito, village of Guacoche, department of Cesar, as part of the inter-institutional acts conducted to counter environmental crimes that hit natural resources and generate serious ecological damages in the region. The illegal exploitation of mining sites not only seriously alters the environmental balance, but in the same way hits the formal economy and the well-being of communities.
Through these acts, Colombian National Army reaffirms its commitment to the protection of the nation's natural heritage and will continue to carry out coordinated and inter-institutional operations to counter environmental crimes and contribute to the comprehensive security of the territory.
