The sustained activity of the troops on this strategic route has achieved the recovery of 42 vehicles, the arrest of 17 people, the elimination of five terrorist acts with explosives and the confiscation of more than 2.3 tons of narcotics, in addition to providing security for the transportation of export coffee in the departments of Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño.
Colombian National Army is constant in its deployment of a permanent military operation on this strategic route, through military operations aimed at protecting the mobility of locals and visitors, accompanying the transport of cargo and affecting the criminal structures that commit crimes in this area of the country.
As a result of this sustained action, during the first quarter of 2026 the troops have managed to recover 42 vehicles that had been stolen, and have made the arrest of 17 people linked, apparently, to different criminal behaviors that affect security on this important road axis.
These results show a timely response of the military operation to threats that seek to alter the tranquility and economic dynamics of the departments of Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño.
In the same way, within the framework of territorial control and stability operations, Colombian National Army has eliminated five criminal acts with explosive devices, preventing affectations against the inhabitants, the transporters and the Military Forces. This capacity for anticipation has been key to reducing risks on a route of high strategic value for the connectivity of the south of the country.
In the fight against the illicit activities that feed these structures, it was in the same way possible to confiscate 2017 kilograms of marijuana and 300 kilograms of coca paste base, directly hitting the criminal finances of the groups that seek to sustain their acts through drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
These results are complemented by the security provided to 132 tractor-trailers transporting export coffee, equivalent to 4620 tons, with an approximate cost of 83,714,400, which shows the institutional commitment to the protection of the productive sectors, cargo mobility and economic stability of the region.
This operation has been fundamental to support the transit of strategic products and contribute to the confidence of the transport, commercial and business sectors. The reaction of Colombian National Army has been constant and focused on the most sensitive points of the Pan-American highway, with the purpose of closing spaces to crime, strengthening institutional activity and accompanying the communities and productive groups that depend on this route.
In the same way, the institution has strengthened its response capacity through the deployment of armored vehicles, helicopter patrols and joint operations with the Colombian Aerospace Force, as well as coordinated with the National Police, to thwart terrorist acts and strengthen road safety.
