Colombian National Army supports families affected by the rainy season in Mitú, Vaupés department

Ejército Nacional apoya a familias afectadas por la temporada de lluvias en Mitú, Vaupés

In response to the emergency caused by the increase in the level of the Vaupés River, soldiers of the Rainforest Infantry Battalion No. 30, unit a of the Thirty-First Rainforest Brigade, are carrying out a support activity in the Urania urbanization, in coordination with the National Police and the Mayor's Office of Mitú.

This activity was carried out after the declaration of a red alert in the municipality, due to the increase in the flow of the Vaupés River, as a result of the rainy season associated with the La Niña phenomenon. This situation has generated effects that require the coordinated work of the institutions to protect life, property and the environment.

During the activity, a community work was carried out aimed at the inhabitants, in which the soldiers supported the emergency response efforts and provided accompaniment to the affected families, joining efforts with the authorities to mitigate the effects of the floods.

Through these types of acts, the soldiers reaffirm their commitment to supporting the communities in times of difficulty, putting their resources at the service of the inhabitants and working in a coordinated manner with the authorities to provide support in the most pressing vulnerable situations.
